DelDOT is on time and on schedule with the Route 299 project.
• 299 between Cleaver Farm Rd. and Catherine St. – Mid June, traffic will be shifted to the south side of 299 and work on the north side of 299 will begin.
• Silver Lake Rd. at 299 – To be closed in the immediate vicinity of the intersection with 299 over the last weekend in June. All entrances on Silver Lake Road south of the intersection will remain open.
• 299 between Rte. 1 and Cleaver Farm Road – Beginning in late June or early July, traffic will be shifted to the outside of 299 so median work can begin.
Will be completed by the end of the year, perhaps even earlier if the weather continues to cooperate.
There will be several lane shifts coming up in the months of June through October, as the center portion of the road will be completed, including a median down the center of the road, from just east of Cleaver Farm Road to the Route 1 entrance.
Sometime in that 4-month period, New Street will be closed at Del. 299 for 20 days.
South Catherine and N. Catherine will be closed for 10 days on each side as those intersections are completed.
Speaking of Catherine Street, the Town of Middletown will be upgrading S. Catherine Street this year, starting when school’s out for the summer on June 16.
The street will be upgraded and repaved, and curbs and sidewalks added on the Silver Lake School side of the road from Main Street to Hoffecker Street. The road will be widened from E. Cochran to E. Hoffecker.
The plan is to have this work completed by the time school opens Sept. 1. This work will be done by Cirillo Bros.
